Tomorrow is the 49th anniversary of the separation of the Russian sector, also known as East Berlin, from the American, British and French sectors also known as West Berlin. The Berlin Wall (German: Berliner Mauer) was a barrier constructed by the East Germany, also known as German Democratic Republic (GDR) starting on the 13th of August, 1961. I will never ever forget the day the wall was built.
Well, I just had to mention it as I was born in East Germany. My parents fled to West Germany in 1956. A lot here in Viet Nam reminds me of East Germany, the red banners and yellow writing, then there are the red flags with hammer and sickle ... but that is where the similarity ends. I love Viet Nam!!!
Anyway, we had a busy day today, meeting with our friends Bob an Hien in their office, which is basically walking distance from our hotel. Long agenda, lots of items to discuss.
Late lunch, then we were on our way to the Peace Orphanage when Tam rang, she had the afternoon off and we took the chance to meet with a printer she had lined up for us.
Surprise, surprise he speaks very good English ... so we got quickly to the point. Our PDF's are no good, so he has to convert to MS Illustrator. No problem he said, but pictures and front have to be converted. Many changes??? What else is there on a calendar than pictures and writing???
However, one calendar will cost us VND 42.000 to print and bind, which is currently only $2.47 plus freight. One little obstacle, all calendars printed in VINA have to have government approval. No problem according to the printer. We now have to provide him with all the pictures, again no problem - we got them with us. One thing is for sure, I want to see one printed copy before we order.
It rained again this afternoon ... just a shower on the way home, apart from that ... fine and not to hot, only 30 degrees!!!
