Dear Diary,
I never thought it could happen to me, but it did!!! Yesterday we were having a good time swimming at the hotel pool. Our friend Bob and his six year old daughter Rosie were already in the pool. Uli and Hien went and booked our flights back to Sai Gon. I went down and to the pool and jumped in ... we had a lot of fun ... until I realised much later that I still had my wallet in my pocket. Should have worn budgie smugglers, then again I'm not running for PM!!!!
The leather was soaking wet, so were all the business cards, the money ... the credit and ATM cards too.
By the way, all new VINA money is plastic money and printed in ... you guessed it ... Australia!!! only the small notes under 10.000 VND are paper money.
I used two of the sun lounges at the pool to spread out everything I had in my wallet. It took me about 45 minutes in full sun to dry the business cards and the paper money in full sun. But there was a challenge too, wind gusts every now and again blew the drying paper away ....
Took until the next morning for the wallet to dry ... leather is a bit stiff, but it'll be OK.
