Visit the Hope School. We asked our friends Bob and Hien to accompany us; first of all because Hien can do the translations, she also is a very good negotiator. Before we even started they told us that there were a couple of changes. We were not impressed, as we would have loved to know about changes.
Nguyen is currently not attending school. He is from the Mekong Delta and used to live with a teacher of the Hope School. The situation changed when the teacher got married. No obvious solution … but both sides work on a solution.
Hien’s parents move to another district. Hien is no longer attending school; she is works at a factory and has vocational training to learn how to sew.
After the news we were introduced to two new students, Nhu and Hue, both girls. Nhu has got problems with her eyesight and is wearing glasses. Profiles will be updated. Then Hien negotiated a good deal for us. Nguyen is still included as both sides work hard to get him back.
Then we handed over the three lap tops. Happy teachers and students.
We worked out a deal for the next 12 month. Hien negotiated very hard, and the deal is one additional student for the same price as last year for 12. Once that was done Uli counted the money and in a little ceremony the money was handed over to the principal.
All the children were called and we handed over the “Friendship – Dolls” form the Coolum Beach Baptist Church Sunday School Kids to the individual students. It was great fun and we had some mix ups … but happy faces all together.
After lunch we had another appointment with Tram and Dung; two children who live in the same district and are sponsored by Roy and Roisin and Matt and Uli. Tram has got cerebral palsies and can not walk, her left side is affected. She is doing exercises and she can now squeeze here left hand, which is an improvement.
They were soo happy to see us again. Dung is now going to school too, thanks to Roy and Roisin's sponsorship. Great work guys !!! We had lots of fun with them.
