Ja doch nicht gleich ...

Friday, 20th of August

Ja doch nicht gleich, nicht auf der Stell, denn bei der Post geht’s nicht so schnell …. Old German song, and it is so true here.!!!

And here is your reliable Google translation:
Yes but not immediately, not on the set, because at the post office as soon as it gets….

Here is my version:
Yes, not immediately, not on the spot as at the Post office nothing happens in a hurry!!!

As we mentioned earlier, we had been notified last Thursday that a parcel from a friend in Germany has arrived. It’s full with giveaways from the savings bank he is working for.

Well today is the day to go the VINA Post in district 10. In preparation we had to:
- fill in a form;
- provide a copy Matt’s passport;
- provide a copy of Matt’s visa;
- sign a letter which we do not know the exact content.

Hung, who works for our friend Hien called the VINA Post office I don’t know how many times. Today is the day …
9 am we hopped in a taxi with Hung and drove to district 10, half way across town. Taxi cost VND 89.000. Found the office and sat there and waited. When it was our turn Hung stood her ground … the post office lady wanted to see everything, but we were prepared. Passport, mothers maiden name … just joking. After 15 minutes we left the office, Hung smiling. Yes, we mad it, we thought.
Positively YES … all paperwork is now in order. But the parcel will only be ready for pick up on Wednesday. WHAT!!! I could not belief it. Hung managed to persuade the lady to send the parcel to district 1, so at least we do not have to fork out another $10 in taxi fares.

Then we wanted to see our printer to get new business cards with e-mail address, website and blog. Another short taxi ride. Everything in the area looked a bit strange, then we found out – power cut until 3 pm, so we could not do anything.

When we got back it was time for lunch!!! After a short nap – back out in the heat … off to Hien’s office. We reported how everything went on Thursday. Discussed further cases and what we will be doing next week.

At least a fruitful afternoon.
